~ M. Delp

While
the book evokes something fishy The Mad Angler Poems are something unto
themselves that transcend the genre to feelings, feelings of empathy
toward our most natural environments. Much of Mike Delp's writing has
dealt in and around the subjects of trout, writing and water and this
collection of 24 poems brings a cohesion to the wit and pointed madness
that is actually merely the love for wild places as yet not ruined by
man. A rollicking adventure of thought through reflections on the
subtle habitat of trout juxtaposed with the greed of development and
back room deals - the Mad Angler holds nothing back for those deemed
unworthy. For those with a predisposed sensitivity for the natural
world (especially if the imagery of fly fishing enchants you) these
words are affirmation and anthem. This is the second offering from Deep Wood Press of Michael Delp's work. The first piece is the broadside The Mad Angler's Manifesto which also appears in this book. Also check out this little video of Michael reciting The Mad Angler Speaks Truth to Politicians Michael Delp is a writer of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction whose works have appeared in numerous national publications.
